The Dog Café Rules and Policies

We are a café that offers a range of services under one “Wroof”

One of our main attractions is our large off leash fully enclosed outdoor area where you and your dog can enjoy a café like experience with other dog friends in a safe environment.

We also offer grooming and therapies and other services , so we ask that although we want your visit to be exciting and wonderful, that you also abide by some common-sense rules to make everyone’s stay stress free.

1. RESPONSIBILITY

Your dogs are your entire responsibility. This means you must supervise them at all times, follow the premises rules and follow our staff instructions. This also means you must watch your dog’s closely for soiling/scenting ensure they’re being polite to other dogs and visitors. Aggressive, unsociable dogs will not be tolerated. You are welcome to contact us prior to book a private café pen.

2. INSIDE CAFÉ AREA IS ONLEASH ONLY

As the inside premises offer other services like grooming, washing and therapies, so it tends to be a very busy place, so we ask that you to refrain from letting your dog off leash if you are using the inside part of the café until you go outside. It’s also a “safe zone” for dogs who may not feel like playing, as well, children can have a separate safe area away from the excitement of doggy play. We also ask that your dog doesn’t toilet inside (we know accidents happen) but please be mindful.

3. PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOGS

Owners are responsible for cleaning up any soiling their dogs leave, there will be doggy bags and bins available outside the café area

4. BULLYING

If your dog seems to be fearful or is being “bullied” by other dogs, don’t let him/her stay thinking he/she will “get over it” or that he/she will learn to “stand up for his/herself”. Chances are that the behaviour will get worse. Remove your dog from the situation calmly and alert a member of staff. If your dog seems to be overly excited and boisterous, alert a member of staff and use a “time out” area inside or else he or she should be leashed or asked to leave. Make the safety and welfare of other dogs and people as high a priority as the safety of your own.u.

5. DISEASE AND INJURY

DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG IF HE / SHE IS SICK OR HAS HAD SURGERY RECENTLY. ALSO, PLEASE DO NOT BRING BITCHES IN SEASON OR ENTIRE MALES.

Your dog(s) will not be accepted into the premises if he/she is showing any signs of illness/infection eg:

Coughing

Skin infections

Parasitic infections or diseases

Diarrhoea

Mucous discharge from eyes, ears, nose or genitalia.

In addition to this, if your dog has had recent surgery and is still recovering please make sure you get the all clear from the vet before visiting us, this will avoid issues such as stitches being re-opened.

Bitches in season are not allowed on the premises; entire males will not be allowed into the premises unless firstly contacting us for alternative arrangements.

6. SOCIALISATION:

HAS YOUR DOG EVER BEEN AROUND OTHER DOGS?

Please be mindful of visiting until he/she has had a chance to be around other dogs in other situations, so you have a better idea of how he/she will react to other dogs. If your dog has never been socialised or you’re unsure, please speak to us beforehand so we can guide you. We offer private socialisation training with our well trained very social resident dogs so your dog can too be soon enjoying the fun of our off leash environment.

7. CHILDREN MUST BE SUPERVISED AT ALL TIMES

Children are not allowed to be in the off leash outside area without an adult. Dogs and children can easily frighten one another, so please keep your children with you at all times, keep in mind that as an off leash dog play area there will be dogs of all sizes running around.

Children under 14 years should remain in the children’s area situated in the café inside.

Children are not permitted to run and/or play with dogs at any time. This is a dog establishment not a child care facility, thank you for understanding.

8. VACCINATION

Please note we require your dog to have at least the first puppy vaccination (C5 or C7) for your dog to enter our establishment.

9. FLEAS AND TICKS

Please be careful not to bring your dog into our premises if he or she has fleas or ticks, If your dog has fleas you will be asked to leave or you can ask one of our staff to give your dog a FIDO flea control wash at a cost of $25.00.

10. INTRODUCE YOUR DOG TO OTHER DOGS GENTLY AND GRADUALLY

It’s very exciting greeting lots of dogs for the first time and it can be a bit daunting even for the most sociable of dogs, so please allow your dog to greet other dogs gradually while he/she is behind the fence, it’s good to also let your dog sniff around the fenced boundary. If the off leash area is busy you can ask a member of staff to help you introduce your dog gradually. We are here to help, so don’t hesitate to ask us for help! We offer socialisation classes with our resident well trained social dogs.

You can also opt to stay in the leashed inside area with your dog if you are not comfortable.

11. MAKE SURE BEFORE YOU ALLOW YOUR DOG IN THE

UNLEASHED AREA THAT YOUR DOG/S WEAR A COLLAR WITH AN ID TAG AND ALWAYS ENTER AND LEAVE THE PREMISES WITH YOUR DOG ON A LEAD

The Control of Dogs Order 1992 mandates that any dog in a public place must wear a collar. Prior TO accessing the off leash area, your dog must wear this collar and be attached to a lead; this prevents the dog from running away as you enter/exit the premises and gives us peace of mind.

12. PLEASE DON’T BRING YOUR DOG’S FAVOURITE TOY!

UNLESS YOUR DOG IS HAPPY TO SHARE

A lot of dogs don’t like sharing their personal toys with other dogs and this is perfectly fine. There will be “neutral” toys supplied by us and you can expect to find dogs playing with toys and chasing balls. If your dog does not like to share, please don’t bring any toys; possessiveness can quickly develop into unnecessary squabbles

13. MEALTIME:

BE MINDFUL AND POLITE TO OTHERS, EVERYONE IS HERE FOR A RELAXING FUN AND STRESSFREE EXPEIENCE

This is not a dog park, it’s an off leash café for dogs and their owners. Please be polite and call your dog (leash it if need be) when others are trying to enjoy their meals. We understand that dogs will be dogs, but all we ask is that everyone be considerate of others.

14. ZERO TOLERATION TO AGGRESSION

We will not tolerate aggressive dogs. If your dog shows aggression to others you must immediately leash your dog or will be asked to leave. We do supply a private café pen for dogs who don’t socialise well with others at a booking price ( as there is only one pen) and will have to be booked in advance

15. INJURY

If you observe all of the above rules we hope your stay will be issue free, but sometimes dogs will be dogs and will sometimes sustain scratches and cuts from rough play.

We will not be held responsible for any injuries sustained when your dog is off leash with other dogs, so please make sure everyone plays nicely.

A HUGE THANK

YOU FROM US ALL AT THE DOG SPOT CAFÉ!
